Dr. Irvin J. Gastman is a highly respected figure in the medical community, with over 40 years of experience in family medicine and preventive care as well as applied science to medicine. He graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and earned a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from The University of Michigan. Dr. Gastman completed his internship at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills and continued his residency in internal medicine/pediatrics while practicing family medicine.
He has been recognized with the IEEE national award for a space physics science project and has been a pillar of the Waterford, MI medical community. Dr. Gastman is known for his innovative approaches to treating and preventing diabetes, rheumatology, and cardiovascular diseases. He has one of the highest numbers of centennial patients due to his focus on preventive medicine.
Dr. Gastman has received numerous accolades, including recognition from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan for his exceptional patient outcomes and pioneering efforts in establishing one of Michigan’s first patient-centered medical homes. He has also been the chief investigator for multiple new pharmaceuticals in areas such as diabetes, cardiovascular medicine, osteoarthritis, sleep disorders, and cardiac and kidney instabilities.
